ABOUT

Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Connal is a self-taught photographer based in London.

Taking inspiration from the psychological undercurrents of the urban environment, he is particularly drawn to capturing atmospheric moments that resist easy interpretation.

His street work instead seeks to induce mood and feeling rather than provide an immediate, literal narrative. Through use of perspective, geometry, light and shadow, occlusion and layered compositions, Connal’s photography aims to slow perception. By frequently prioritising psychological and emotional resonance over clarity, he uses the medium as a means of suggestion rather than description.

All work made exclusively with one fixed lens 28mm Leica camera.
